Westy’s recognises the economic environment for developers and builders trying to gain the competitive edge. We recognise the need of alliances with clients to achieve a better outcome. By engaging early with builders and design teams, we can provide practical advice when it will have its most impact. Our in house Estimators hold various qualifications such as: Boiler Making, Advanced Rigging, Diploma of building & construction, and decades of hands on experience in the industry. By bolting a collaborative approach to this experience, outcomes have been delivered that speak for themselves.
Project Management & Procurement
With our Commercial Manager having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management), and 20 years of construction experience – Critical program management is prioritised in our business model which ensures milestones are achieved. We have consistent processes in place to program procurement, manufacture, and installation across our clients projects, to ensure program milestones are met. This ensures any pinch points and concurrent projects are identified early, and managed accordingly. We pride ourselves on being transparent with our clients through this process which results in an agile business without the surprises to our clients.
Commercial Fabrication
Our relationships with our preferred suppliers, and contractors have been established over many years. These relationships enable us to achieve the quality requirements, meet deadlines, and take on new challengers with confidence. Major projects are processed on CNC beam lines, providing clients decreased lead time, and assurance of greater accuracy achieved by direct data feed from 3D modelling software [EG Tekla] directly to the CNC machine.
Workshop
Our purposed built 2000m2 workshop opened in 2015, and provides quick access to the freeway network from its Pakenham location. Our Qualified boiler makers are the heart of our business,
The 4 overhead cranes provide a max lift of 10T, and the 8 jib cranes provide safe lifting & efficiency to each workstation.

Design & Detailing
Our in house shop detailing, and decades of service have resulted in a short list of experienced, reliable and collaborative sub-contractor detailers, who offer the ‘right fit’ for your project.
All detailers use 3D modelling, and are BIM compatible. Detailers are allocated based on project complexity, and timeline. 3D modelling is not just the beginning of our process, it is the beginning of the clients structure. We cannot emphasise the value and importance of managing this process with a qualified team. The difference between computer technicians and experienced steel detailers, is years of construction knowledge. Their experience and attention to detail make them excellent “3D” builders, which is invaluable to pull every project together.
Westys senior management stay personally involved in the entire process. They have decades of trade experience, construction estimating, commercial building and developments.
Where complicated remedial works are required to existing buildings, a large emphasis is placed on feature surveys and cloud point surveying. We believe that this effort at the front end, increases quality of product for the client, whilst eliminating site installation problems & delays.
Design & construct is becoming more prevalent within the industry. Traditionally, head contractors take on this design management role. With our commercial project management experience, we have the processes in place to complete a design & construct structural steel package including certification. This is only feasible for certain types and size of projects. Early engagement is imperative, to achieve substantial savings.
